2018
2018 ADAC Masters
Ampfing, Germany
April 9 / 10, 2018
Friday practice was used to test the engines with an older chassis without making any major adjustments. The lap times were moderately good with a considerable gap to the top teams such as Schumacher, Mach 1 works teams and other big teams. On Saturday morning my mechanic arrived and brought the newly built chassis with him. The technical inspection was quickly completed and off we went to the only training session still available. In the following qualifying practice I finished 12th out of 34 drivers. The loss to the leader was 0.4 seconds. In two solid heats, also on Saturday, I finished 14th and 13th, lost places had to be accepted. A serious accident in the last race resulted in a temporary interruption to the race. I was in tenth place at this point! I was unable to maintain the position at the restart. On Sunday, things really got down to business and the many spectators were able to enjoy accident-free races. I finished tenth in the pre-final! The team goal had already been achieved. Afterwards, I could no longer be stopped in the final run. Another great start helped me to make up a few places, again starting from P11, and I was able to finish the race in P5 and be the best foreign driver!
2018 DKM
Wackersdorf, Germany
May 11 - 13, 2018
Unfortunately, I was unable to reach the final heat. In the second heat, I crashed into a kart in front of me. The crushed spoiler led to a time penalty which made it impossible for me to reach the finals. Too bad, because Wackersdorf was one of my favorite tracks.
2018 DKM
Ampfing, Germany
June 1 - 3, 2018
After major problems in the training sessions, the heats started off cautiously. However, I continued with engine problems into the finals. I only got up to speed in the last final run after a problem with the carburetor was found, and I finished 26th.
2018 Swiss Championship
Mirecourt, France
June 30 - July 1, 2018
My highlight! I entered the Swiss Championship with great respect. I had never driven the tires we used there before. I took a cautious approach and was able to improve with every free practice session. I started the races in fourth place and worked my way forward in good duels. I crossed the finish line in second place in the final race!
2018 DKM
Kerpen, Germany
July 27 - 29, 2018
I worked my way into the finals again. Although I was still 25th in the qualifying practice, I was able to finish 13th in the first heat. I finished 17th in the second heat. This put me in 19th place after the heats and so I contested the finals on Sunday without any major problems. I then finished 25th in each of the finals. Immediately after Kerpen I went to Genk to prepare for the last DKM race. Unfortunately, this race did not take place!
2018 ADAC Masters
Wackersdorf, Germany
September 1 - 2, 2018
My first time in the Schumacher team. I finished the race in fourth place as Ralf's Schumacher best team driver in the fully occupied OK Senior class in the final race. I approached the race with respect, not only because it was my first time in the RS team, but also because it was my first time driving the newly launched chassis. The red color of the kart was lucky for all of us! The Friday practice sessions had already shown a decent tendency, with a first engine failure and the capricious weather not throwing me off. The warm-up on Saturday was completed on a wet track. I was unable to really shine in the qualifying practice and only finished 18th. On what was initially my fastest lap, I caught up with a slower driver. No problem for me and I made up for this setback in the first heat, finishing eleventh. In the second heat, I was run over from behind at the start. Fortunately, I was able to continue the race and finished 19th. In two or three places I tried to master the sectors too aggressively, which cost me some time. Nevertheless, I was able to motivate myself more and more and the conditions for the finals were very good. In the first final race, I started from the ninth row of the grid and finished 11th. In the final race, I then achieved an exploit and secured fourth place as the best Schumacher driver. Third place was within reach, but I didn't want to take any more risks, especially as it started to rain again. I was very happy about this result because we have worked very hard on it and I've had a dry spell behind me. Many thanks to the Schumacher team and especially to my supporters who made this possible.
